According to the U.S. publication Lasers & Applications, No. 2, 1987, Tela temp located in Flauton, California, USA, recently introduced a new handheld infrared thermometer. This 44LE type infrared thermometer uses a laser sighting, can accurately target at non-contact temperature measurement. This thermometer can be accurately positioned and can give temperature readings on targets as small as 8mm in diameter. This thermometer looks like a pistol, infrared radiation emitted by the pyrometer in front of the optical system, reflected from the target surface to the thermoelectric elements in the instrument. The helium-neon laser mounted at the top of the gun emits two beams of light: a beam of light is directed through the gun to the center of the target focused on by the infrared optics; and the other beam acts as a range finder. When these two beams overlap on the target surface
