According to the methods of Evans and Piev et al., We successfully purified the extracellular mucopolysaccharide from the supernatant (containing mucus) by the steps of culture, centrifugation, alcohol precipitation and trypsin treatment. (MEP). The crude product and the pure product were purple by Morish reagent, confirming that the polysaccharide was positive. The crude product was scanned by UV-spectrophotometer and appeared a multi-peak melting at 190 ~ 300nm
