There are many surgical methods for rectal cancer. Preoperative anterior resection is the best type of anus-preserving operation. However, postoperative anastomotic leakage is a common complication. The prevention and treatment of this complication is an important part of improving the therapeutic effect. This article reports 493 cases of resection of rectal cancer from January 1986 to December 1998 in our hospital.
