Road as a special product to meet the needs of the public driving, one of the fundamental measurement of its quality is the driving quality evaluation index. Since this indicator depends on the damage of the road, it is convenient to set up the regression relationship with the roughness of the road surface. Since the 1960s, the main parameters for determining driving quality indicators have evolved. First, artificial measurement of rutting, damage and repair area, and then a variety of instruments measured the road surface roughness, such as the International Flatness Index, IRI. Based on a large number of researches, this paper points out the shortcomings of the current main parameters and proposes a new parameter to determine the driving quality index, which is the rate of change of acceleration in the vertical direction directly sensed by the passengers, JERK.
