Recently, the ILO prepared a report for the Latin American Occupational Hazards Prevention Round Table. The report states that from 150,000 to 20,000 workers in Latin America die of occupational accidents each year. There are still a large number of workers died of occupational diseases. In recent years, working conditions in many countries in the region have continued to deteriorate. The report also pointed out: (1) The number of work-related injuries in Brazil increased from 2,587 in 1971 to 4,824 in 1980. And the number of injuries more than tripled during the same period.
