耤田礼,是中国古代孑遗至今的中华文明古礼之一,不仅缘起悠久,而且在后世中华文明的进程中扮演着重要角色,是古代天子体恤民情、以为民先的政治行为。在几千年的文明发展中,尤其是在两千多年的封建专制大一统政治社会中,耤田礼的重要性从早期恢复周礼的简单状态,晋升到晚期维系国家经济政策和社会安定的重要高度(这在清雍正时期达到巅峰)。考察耤田礼的起源、发展等诸多演进历程,不仅可以管窥中国古代国家农耕农业立国的国家属性形成的一个侧面,更可以看到,事实上延止当下的所谓复兴民族文化传统中,仍然包含着浓厚的农业文化情结而无法为当代新的文化内涵所替代,本文试图引发这一角度的文化思考。
