本文重点考察在华跨国公司内部的语言使用情况及其语言使用态度。调查结果显示,在华跨国公司内部语言状况具有多样性、复杂性的特点。在文本语境中,大部分跨国公司采取英语和汉语双语并用且有所侧重的模式。在交际语境中英语处于强势地位,而汉语的使用呈现出明显的语境相关性。外籍员工说汉语的场合分布非常广泛,且高频场合有所侧重。此外我们也发现,外籍员工对汉语能力的认同度不是很高。
This article examines the language usage and linguistic attitudes within multinationals in China. The survey results show that the multinational companies in China have a diversity of languages and complexities. In a textual context, most multinational corporations adopt a bilingual and focused approach in both English and Chinese. English is in a strong position in communicative context, while the use of Chinese shows a clear contextual relevance. Foreign employees speak Chinese very widely distributed occasions, and high-frequency situations have focused. In addition, we also found that the foreign employees’ recognition of Chinese proficiency is not very high.
