在石阡县水稻生产中,粳稻品种几乎是一块空白。传统的本地品种,秆高,易倒伏,生育期长,三化螟严重,产量低而不稳,一般亩产只有四、五百斤。80年初石阡县农科所引进一些糯稻品种材料,经两年试种观察、鉴定筛选,初步确定珍珠糯为较理想的品种。其主要特征特性是:全生育期129天,株型紧凑,株高74cm,叶片浓绿直立,分蘖力强,苗期抗寒性好,抗稻瘟病,轻感纹枯病,后期转色好,平均穗长20cm左右,平均穗粒数90粒,千粒重25克,出米率76％,米质佳,糯性强,食味好。两年来,在中等肥力稻田,一般栽培条件下,亩产900斤左右。
