For the world tea market, the 20th century is undoubtedly brilliant. Despite the competition between coffee and other beverages, the consumption of tea has been affected to a certain extent. However, since the last century, especially in the latter half of the 20th century, the production, trade, and consumption of tea still have great development. In 1949, the world’s tea production was only 608,800 tons, and by 1998 it had increased to 2.67 million tons, an increase of nearly four times. During this period, the amount of tea imported was only 420,000 tons, and in 1998 it had increased to 1.25 million tons, which was nearly double the rate in 1949. Although the rapid development of other soft drinks based on carbonated soft drinks has had a certain impact on tea consumption, on a worldwide scale, the number of tea production and sales has increased to a record level, and there has been no fundamental change in supply and demand. In 1998, the demand for tea in the world was still quite strong. This is history.
