扑热息痛在肝脏与葡萄糖醛酸-硫酸盐结合,经肾脏排泄。并形成少数具有氧化活性的代谢产物,通常它们与谷胱甘肽结合而解毒。当大剂量扑热息痛进入体内,肝内谷胱甘肽耗尽,具有氧化活性的代谢产物积聚,与肝细胞蛋白共价结合,致肝细胞坏死。现确认,摄入超剂量(10克)扑热息痛,在4小时内入院的病人,须进行常规中毒处理(洗 Paracetamol is bound to glucuronide-sulfate in the liver and is excreted by the kidneys.
