IBM, which dominated the PC industry’s high-tech giants of the 1980s, believes the “one-machine-use” PC is about to die. This is IBM’s recent information outlining industry analysts for its ambitious growth strategy beyond PC. IBM believes that such transgressions are occurring throughout the PC industry. As IBM has been aggressively experimenting with non-standardized “beige chassis” designs, including trials of wearable PCs, and adding wireless connectivity to almost any new product, the ubiquitous “one computer, universal” computer model May be out of date. To this end, IBM’s new strategy is at the heart of the “Edge of the Network” (EON). In a sense, EON refers to the combination of hardware, connectivity and services, emphasizing that IBM will be a variety of different technologies
