1949年年首,毛主席发电报给香港的民主人士,邀请他们到北京参加中国人民政治协商会议。柳亚子等乘船从香港启程抵烟台,然后转赴北京。启程前,柳亚子在香港感慨万分,提笔挥诗:六十三龄万里行,前途真喜向光明。乘风破浪平生意,席卷南溟下北溟。他于2月28日由香港乘船,3月5日抵达烟台,时有胶东军区参谋长贾若瑜、烟台市市长徐中夫前来迎接,欣然赋诗:
In early 1949, Chairman Mao telegraphed Democrats in Hong Kong and invited them to Beijing to attend the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Liu Yazi and other embarked by boat from Hong Kong arrived in Yantai, and then transferred to Beijing. Before leaving, Liu Yazi in Hong Kong with extreme emotion, pen to write a poem: sixty-three million miles, the future is really happy to the light. Wind and waves break the level of business, swept the South Sea next Beiming. He arrived in Yantai on March 28 by boat on February 28 and arrived at Yantai on March 5, when Jiao Ruoyu, chief of staff of the Jiaodong Military Region, and Xu Zhongfu, the mayor of Yantai came to meet with him.
