Advanced Drawing Machine Design Now let’s look at the various factors that we should be aware of when designing modern drawing machines that are capable of meeting the demands of faster and faster machines. For high carbon steel wire, aging of the wire structure may occur due to the temperature increase and the residence time of the steel wire at this temperature. The ability of a steel to adapt to aging is an important factor that must be taken into account. This aging is very damaging because it reduces the toughness of the metal and therefore significantly reduces the tensile strength of the wire as it bends and twists alternately.
