An opto-optical sensor with magnification function is designed and fabricated by a group III-V compound semiconductor. The sensor has a monolithic structure. The light emitting element is vertically integrated on the collection area of the phototransistor on one side of the substrate. About a factor of 10 magnifications are observed at a wavelength of 1.15 μm and the optical feedback characteristics are available for non-linear functions such as optical bistability and photo-triggered switching. The unidirectional required for optical signal processing is obtained. The correlation between light coherence and non-coherence and between wavelengths can be expected.
