Not long ago, a batch of world famous paintings at the Malmids Museum in Paris were robbed. Five gunmen stole away with nine paintings in the presence of managers and spectators. Missing paintings include the “sunrise impression” of the French painter Monet. The name “Impressionism” came from a critique of Monet’s painting by critics in 1874. Although the police conducted a multi-pronged investigation, the whereabouts of these art treasures have so far remained elusive. In 1982, the Montreal Museum of Art in Canada also took away 18 famous paintings by gunmen in broad daylight, including works by famous French painters such as Corot, Miller and Delacroix, as well as Rembrandt’s landscape paintings and Rubens’s portraiture. So far these famous paintings are still like Huang He.
