The process control system (PCS) built by West-German Volkswagen VW’s Automotive Research and Development Center in Vollnsburg collects and controls test data from 78 different test stations simultaneously. The process control system consists of a CD6500 host computer and six CD1700 interconnected process control computers. The six CD1700 computers function to receive in real time and partially pre-process the data from each bench.
