Objective To investigate the impact of chronic alcoholism on blood glucose and the related effects of diabetes mellitus. Methods 135 cases of chronic alcoholism patients, all from the hospital health checkup, outpatient and hospitalized patients. 135 patients through the sugar tolerance, fasting blood glucose and C peptide examination. To explore the impact of chronic alcoholism on the impact of blood sugar and lead to diabetes. Results Among the 135 patients, 48 were diagnosed with diabetes mellitus (35.56%), 35 were impaired fasting glucose (IGT), 23 (17.04%) with impaired glucose tolerance (IFG), 29 were normal blood glucose (21.48% ) Was significantly higher than the current incidence of adult diabetes mellitus 9.7%, also significantly higher than the proportion of pre-diabetes 15.5% (42.96% of the proportion of this study IFG + IGT). Conclusions Chronic alcoholism can lead to higher glucose tolerance and higher incidence of diabetes by stimulating pancreatic secretion, overdriving pancreatic function, early insulin resistance, eventually leading to pancreatic sclerosis and pancreatic excretion.
