Objective To explore the effect of microwave radiation on the sex hormones and sperm routine of radar workers. Methods A total of 30 male soldiers from two grassroots radar units with radar protective measures (protective group) and no radar protective measures (exposed group) were randomly selected. 30 normal males without microwave radiation were selected as the control group. Blood and semen samples were collected and radioimmunoassay was used to detect sex hormones. The semen samples were analyzed by WEILI-9000 automatic semen analyzer. Results The levels of testosterone in the exposed group were significantly decreased compared with the protective group and the control group (P <0.05). There was no significant difference between the protective group and the control group (P> 0.05). The sperm density, grade a sperm percentage and grade b sperm percentage in the exposed group were significantly different from those in the control group and the protective group (P <0.05). There was no significant difference between the protective group and the control group (P> 0.05). Conclusion Radiation microwave radiation on the male reproductive system mainly in the testosterone, sperm density, sperm motility and other aspects of the development of appropriate protective measures to strengthen personal protection, to improve the reproductive health level of workers is necessary.
