The target diffraction of synthetic aperture laser imaging radar is divided into three regions. It is proposed that the optical receiving telescope with defocus or additional spatial phase modulation plate can compensate the echo aberration. When the target is in the Fresnel diffraction zone, a defocus or offset telescope may be used to compensate for the echo quadratic phase defocus aberration and produce a quadratic phase history for aperture synthesis; the target may be in the Fraunhofer diffraction zone The defocusing or offsetting telescope is used to compensate for the second order out-of-focus aberration without phase history. When the target is in the Rayleigh-Sommerfeld diffraction area, it is impossible to compensate for the echo higher-order aberrations.
