Research shows that sudden death from a car driver suffering from a heart attack threatens the lives and property of other drivers, passengers and pedestrians. With the exception of Ontario, people who have a history of heart disease in all other provinces are not allowed to hold a commercial driving license. However, it has been reported in some literature that injuries or deaths to others caused by sudden driver death while driving are rare. It is envisioned that the necessary actions should be taken against drivers who have a heart infarct to prevent serious accidents. However, it is not considered necessary to prohibit persons with a history of heart disease from holding a commercial driving license.
