新加坡的社会保障制度建立于1955年,初始的目的是通过强制性储蓄来实行职工对其本人退休养老的自我保障,而不是一种社会保障体系。但经过近40年的时间,它已经发展成为一种全面的、可以满足人们退休、失业、购房、医疗保健及教育等需要的社会保障制度。从而为新加坡的经济繁荣和社会安定提供了有效的保证。
Singapore’s social security system was established in 1955. The initial purpose was to implement the self-protection of employees on their own retirement pension through compulsory saving instead of a social security system. However, after nearly 40 years, it has developed into a comprehensive social security system that meets the needs of people in retirement, unemployment, home purchase, healthcare and education. Thus providing an effective guarantee for Singapore’s economic prosperity and social stability.
