The Brisbane Port Authority is trying to find new doors to enter the harbor via Moreton Bay. The main gateway to Brisbane for many years is the Northwest Passage, but the water depth is shallow (13.2 meters declared depth), more than 30 kilometers in length. An alternative import is the north-eastern fairway beyond the northern tip of Moreton Island. If this option proves to be viable, only 5 km of waterway will be dredged. The Wallingford Hydraulics Experiment Station in the United Kingdom is assisting with this project and preparing the overall design of the program. The purpose of the study was to determine the stability of the waterway, which was tested by the Agency’s dredger and the test section was about 200 meters long, 100 meters wide and 5 meters deep and recorded wave height, wave direction, flow rate, flow direction and tide level Other information. Hydrological measurements show that there is a movement of bottom sand in the channel and work is under way to determine the amount of migration.
