醒狮亦称南狮(图1),主要流行于岭南地区以及东南亚华人聚居地,由北狮传入广东佛山民间后发展而成并逐渐形成了风格独特的南派舞狮体系,其造型、装饰、技法等都与其母体区别甚大。舞狮在佛山出现的初期是什么样子,至今尚无确切史料可考。广州博物馆藏有一件明代石湾窑三彩狮子(图2),“造型以广东地区民间所舞的独角狮为原型,……头有一角,双耳则高耸至头顶,双目圆睁,口大张,舌头外露……”[1]经历了
The Lion Dance is also known as the Southern Lion (Figure 1). It is mainly popularized in the Lingnan region and the Chinese enclaves in Southeast Asia. It developed from the Northern Lion to the folk in Foshan, Guangdong and gradually formed a unique style of the Southern School lion dance.
