作为我国蒙古族中唯一参加编纂《四库全书》的学者,法式善与《四库全书》有着非常密切的关系。他不但在《四库》开馆期间担任《四库》馆分校官及提调官,而且在《四库》闭馆后还负责对入藏文渊阁的《四库全书》进行复校及对翰林院中修《四库》余下的大量图书进行整理。在这期间,他对不少《《四库》书进行了录副,又从书摊上购得一大批《四库》大典本稿本。这些书如今大都存世,主要藏于国家图书馆善本部,成为我们研究《四库》的珍贵材料。此外,法式善还利用任《全唐文》总纂官的机会,从翰林院藏《永乐大典》中补辑出了《四库》馆臣未辑出的大量佚书、佚文。法式善的著作中保存有不少关于《四库》修书的掌故与资料。
As the only Mongolian nationality in our country who participated in the compilation of the Sikuquanshu, French goodwill has a very close relationship with the Sikuquanshu. He not only served as the “Sikuankuan” branch official and the relief officer during the opening of Siku but also re-checked the Sikuquanshu Hanlin hospital repair “Siku” the remaining large number of books to organize. During this period, he recorded many “Siku” books and purchased a large number of draft scripts of “Siku” from bookstores. These books are mostly surviving, mainly hidden in the rare books of the National Library and become precious materials for our study of the “Four Treasuries.” In addition, the French monarchy also made use of the opportunity of “compiling an official document” to compile a large number of lost and forgotten accounts of the “Four Treasures” compiled by the Imperial Academy of Yongle. There are many anecdotes and data about the compiling of “Si Ku”.
