美国马里兰州贝尔茨维尔农业研究处的科学家最近发明一种番茄增产的新方法。目前农民一般是采用覆盖塑料薄膜促使番茄增产和提早成熟。该研究处的阿卜杜勒·巴基通过数年研究证明,采用天然植特作覆盖物代替塑料薄膜,获得满意的效果。实验使用了4种不同的方法。一号地里没有使用覆盖物,番、茄的产量为19t;二号地里使碎纸片覆盖地面,产量为34t;三号地里使用薄膜覆盖地面,产量为35t;四号地里采用种植天然植物覆盖地面的方式;产量不仅高达45t,而且化肥、除草剂和杀虫剂的用量均大大减少。
