Wonderful Life is the novel’s debut novel by American Dominican writer Juno Diaz, published in 2007, when she was awarded the National Book Critics Association Award, and later won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize. The novel focuses on the joys and sorrows of three generations of a Dominican immigrant family. The author depicts the oppression and confusion experienced by three generations of people in different historical periods through the life story of the protagonist Oscars Woo and reveals to readers a section of Dominica, a tropical island nation in the Caribbean Little-known history, as well as the cultural dislocation that Dominican immigrants feel in the United States, the confusion of identity and their quest for the ultimate meaning of life.
