以蒙古族为主体建立的大元王朝,疆域辽阔,民族众多,在饮食上既体现出明显的多样性和融合性,又具有鲜明的民族特征,宫廷饮食尤其如此。蒙古族是一个典型的游牧民族,羊肉是他们主要的食物。在进入中原农业区以后,他们仍保持着喜食羊肉的习俗,从民间到宫廷莫不如此。在元王朝的宫廷之中,无论日常饮食还是节庆宴会,或是招待番国使节,以羊肉为主料的菜肴是宴席上的绝对主角。
The Dayuan dynasty, which is mainly composed of Mongolian people, has a vast territory and numerous nationalities. It shows both obvious diversity and integration in eating and drinking as well as distinctive ethnic characteristics. This is especially true for court foods. Mongolian is a typical nomadic people, lamb is their main food.
