Located in western Georgia, the Hutton hydropower station is a cascade of hydropower stations on the Black River - Inguri River off the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus. The plant is scheduled to operate in the Transcaucasia United Grid. The Inguri River originates from the 2613m Elevation at the southern foot of the Caucasus. It is 221km long and covers an area of 4062km 2 with a total drop of 2600m. The river is abundant and its water is recharged by glaciers and snowmelt. In the preliminary design stage, two dam sites, Upper Hutton and Lower Hutton, were studied. The two dam sites are located 32km and 24km upstream of the damsite of the Inguri hydroelectric station respectively.
