The manifesto was co-published by British director and producer Basil Wright and British director Vivian Braun. They support a coordinated combination of sound and picture, opposition to dialogue or use of natural sound only for Anchor pictures. This declaration responds to some of Chaplin’s assertions (“anti-corruption” and “white manifestations”) as well as some form of criticism of the Soviet concept of “sonography”.
