“长江学者奖励计划”于1998年8月正式启动。内容包括:在高校设立特聘教授岗位制度,聘期为5年,在聘期内享受每年10万元奖金;向任职期间取得重大学术成就的特聘教授授予“长江学者成就奖”,一等奖100万元,二等奖50万元。计划实施四年来,共有69所高校聘任了412位特聘教授,平均年龄40.5岁,绝大多数有过海外留学或工作的经历,先后有6位学者或团体获“长江学者成就奖”。
The Cheung Kong Scholars Program was officially launched in August 1998. The contents include: setting up the system of Distinguished Professor posts in colleges and universities with a term of 5 years and a bonus of 100,000 yuan per year during the term of employment; a “Cheung Kong Scholar Achievement Award” awarded to Distinguished Professors with significant academic achievements during his term of office; the first prize 100 Million, second prize 500,000 yuan. In the four years since the implementation of the plan, a total of 412 colleges and universities employ 412 distinguished professors with an average age of 40.5 years. Most of them have had overseas study or work experience. Six scholars or groups have successively won the “Cheung Kong Scholars Achievement Award”.
