The “Sandcastle” that Alice Murdoch favors is often considered an earlier novel of her own rather inferiority, but this article argues that commenters or readers who hold this view often miss the most important core of the work. The article tries to interpret the profound artistic and moral connotation beyond the experience world in this novel by analyzing Breton Deard and other three major figures in the novel, so as to solve the deep reason why the work won the favor of the female writer .
