In order to reduce the fishing hook-fishing rate of Symlectoteuthis oualaniensis, the on-site measurements of wrist and foot and leg rupture strength of Symplectoteuthis oualaniensis from December 2004 to January 2005 were carried out. The results showed that the average breaking strength of the wrist was 1.06 times of the body weight. The average breaking strength of the first wrist was 2.55 times that of the second one. The average breaking strength of the second wrist was 2.87 times that of the body weight. The strength is 2.88 times the weight. The ratio of rupture strength to body weight was lower than that of Pacific soft-shelled turtle and soft-shelled turtle, respectively. Research suggests that the low average breaking strength of the wrist is one of the main reasons for the high removal rate. The ratio of breaking strength to body weight was linearly correlated with body weight and body length, respectively.
