This year New Zealand will start using manuka honey for clinical treatment of various ulcer diseases. This trial is based on the review by P. Molander, a senior lecturer in biochemistry at the University of Victor in New York, after confirming the antibacterial properties of Mannich honey. According to Molande lecturer, the experiment proved that this honey has the suppressive effect on Helicobacter pylorithe, the main pathogen causing human gastric ulcer. Honey has been used to treat injuries for thousands of years, and was used primarily to treat bed sores, blisters, burns and wounds. “Honey is also a very good wound dressing,” Molander said. “It not only kills any kind of bacteria in the wound, but it also forms an effective barrier against wound re-infection. Honey also has the ability to nourish wound-healthy tissue, accelerate healthy tissue growth and help wound healing.”
