THE FOLLUWING PROGRAMME SOLVES THE SOALAR HELMHOLTI EQUATION TO FIND RE-LATIVE YALUES OF AXIAL ELECTRIC FLELD IN A RIDGE WAVEGUIDE. ONI, ONE-HALF THE ACTUAL SYMMETRICAL GUIDE IS MODELLED. THE OTHER HALF BEING SUP-PLIED BY REFLECTION AT THE PLANE OF SYMMETRY. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS IERO BOUNDARY VARUES AND IS SATISFIED BY THE TRIVIAL SO-LUTION E=O EVERYWHERE. A NONZERO STARTING GUESS FOR THE ITERATIONS IS THEREFORE MANDATORY.
