The Robes, one of the special branches of Uyghur in our country, have long lived in and around the Lop Nur in the margins of the Taklamakan Desert in the southern part of the Tarim Basin. In the long-term adaptation to the arid and humid ecological environment in the region, they have accumulated rich knowledge of the ecological environment. At present, the increasingly serious phenomena of land desertification, soil erosion and grassland degradation in this region have become the core factors that threaten the survival and future development of the people of all ethnic groups in the region. In resolving these ecological and environmental problems, the guidance of national policies and economic development alone can not eradicate the issue. To solve these problems reasonably requires the contemporary people to broaden their horizons of observation and thinking, and more attention should be paid to the possible role that local knowledge will play in this process.
