Although it is not possible for Nilaparvata lugens to winter in temperate regions, it jeopardizes the rice-producing areas of China from south to north every summer. Chinese scientists have discovered the fact that a series of brown planthoppers migrated south in the fall. From September 15 to September 30, 1988, we used the radar in Jiangpu County, Jiangsu Province to directly observe the long-distance migration of the brown planthopper. A high-frequency radar was specially designed to identify individuals flying planthoppers 1 km away from insects in a wider area without precipitation. Hang a web insect trap on a tethered balloon (150-450 meters in height)
