河北省赛罕坝机械林场在围场县北部,位于东径116°53＇到117°55＇,北纬42°5＇到42°37＇。海拔1000至1900米,地类型有三种:一是坝上漫甸,二是坝上固沙地,三是坝下山地。气候特点是,风大雪厚,异常寒冷,无霜期短(只60天左右)。 1962年建场后,全体职工在毛主席革命路线指引下,战风雪,斗严寒,自力更生,艰苦创业,首先封养起杨桦次生林42万亩,同时积极地展开了造林活动,截止目前,营造以落叶松为主的人工林近40万亩,从而大大地改变了赛罕坝的自然面貌。
