The new electromagnetic measurement (EM) technology developed by Montason Exploration Inc. has been used to determine the extent of the Niobrara prospect in the Denver Julesberg Basin, Colorado. In the past, it was thought that this structural trap was about 3mile2. By electromagnetic measurements, the prospect actually had only 400acre structural traps. Due to the effects of long-distance pipeline transportation, the potential reserves are too small to guarantee drilling. EM measurements and interpretations reduce the cost of earthwork, exploration and development for operational projects.
