The purpose of the Minimalist Program is to simplify the grammar and to move forward the development of syntax by introducing some more advanced parameters. As a newly created academic term, the Minimalist Program has indeed achieved great success. At the same time, however, because of the shortness of time, the Minimalist Program is merely an idea or a method, and therefore has received much criticism.
