继1983年和1987年两次中美比较文学双边讨论会分别在中美两国举行之后,中断了十多年的这一高层次的中美两国学者的双边理论对话于今年恢复。由清华大学和美国耶鲁大学共同发起主办的第3届中美比较文学双边讨论会于2001年8月11～14日在清华大学举行。清华大学作为中国现代比较文学的发源地和摇篮,有着丰厚的人文学科研土壤,这里曾经群星辈出,出现过王国维、梁启超、吴宓、钱钟书、季羡林、王佐良等一大批对草创并发展中国比较文学事业作出卓越贡献的大师级学者,他们对于这门学科在新时期中国的复兴和成长起了重要的奠基作用。新近成立的比较文学和文化研究中心则对恢复清华的文学研究传统,使之迅速进入国际学术对话中起到了重要的促进作用。美国耶鲁大学多年来一直和哈
Following the two Sino-U.S. Bilingual Symposia held in 1983 and 1987 respectively in China and the United States, the bilateral theoretical dialogue of this high-level scholar between China and the United States, which was suspended for over a decade, was resumed this year. The 3rd Bilateral Symposium on Comparative Literature, co-sponsored by Tsinghua University and Yale University in the United States, was held at Tsinghua University from August 11 to 14, 2001. Tsinghua University, as the birthplace and cradle of modern Chinese comparative literature, has rich soil for humanities research. There have been a large number of such studies as Wang Guowei, Liang Qichao, Wu Mi, Qian Zhongshu, Ji Xianlin and Wang Zuoliang The development of China’s masterful scholars who have made outstanding contributions to the comparative literature cause has laid an important foundation for the revitalization and growth of this discipline in the new era in China. The newly established Center for Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies has played an important role in promoting the tradition of literary studies in Tsinghua University so that it can quickly enter the international academic dialogue.
