The concept of minimally invasive surgery ( MIS ) put forward by the application of new instruments has an important role in advancing techniques and improing clinical effects for total hip arthroplasty ( THA ). The MIS THA through posterior approach has been performed by most surgeons. Supercapsular percutaneously-assisted total hip ( PATH ) THA may cause inadvertent muscle damage, and be challenging to technical details with steep learning curve. Attempts must be performed with caution.
