This article describes the process of converting the Escondido copper processing plant from its original design of 35,000 t / d to an expanded 115,000 t / d of large plants. Briefly introduced the production problems of the beneficiation plant during this period and the measures taken to solve them, and explained the reasons for the selection of key equipment and process improvement in the expansion process. The flotation circuit was mainly introduced. INTRODUCTION Escondida Minerals (MEL) operates one of the largest copper mines in the world at a distance of about 180km southeast of the port city of Antofagasta, 140km north of the Song of Santiago, with an altitude of 3100m. Since 1988, open-pit stripping operations and the commencement of plant operations in the second half of 1990 have resulted in the expansion of mines and process plants and the introduction of an ammonia leaching process that produces high quality cathodic copper from selected concentrates. This paper gives an overview of the development of the plant from the original design size of 35,000t / d and the second phase of the expansion project to the current third phase of expansion to 115,000t / d scale.
