Objective: To observe the effects of prophylactic administration of gangliosides on the Walerian degeneration after sciatic nerve transection in rats and to study its mechanism. Methods: Rats were given ip and 80 mg · kg-1 · d-1 gangliosides for 8 days. The sciatic nerve of rats was cut off on the 9th day.
