今年三月,中央电视台《东方之子》报道一个美籍华裔青年,在十三岁那年因参加游泳选手赛前训练,跳水发生意外,造成身体高位瘫痪。他凭着坚强的意志继续就学,以全校第一名成绩毕业自加州蒙他维斯塔高中,获美国前总统布什颁发的学术成就奖,时年十七岁。毕业后被四大名校录取:斯坦福大学、柏克莱加州大学、哈佛大学、宾州大学。他进入斯坦福大学经济系,十九岁又直接考入经济系研究所博士班。他把父母为他积攒下来的20万美元捐赠给老家宁波北仑作为发展教育基金,他成为海外华人青年的楷模,也称“轮椅斗士”,他的名字叫——张士柏。
In March of this year, CCTV’s “Son of the East” reported on a Chinese-American youth who paralyzed his body at the age of 13 by participating in the swimming contest before the game. With his strong will to continue his studies, he graduated from Montana Vista High School in California with his first grade and was awarded the Academic Achievement Award by former U.S. President Bush at the age of 17. After graduation was admitted to the four elite schools: Stanford University, Berkeley University of California, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania. He entered Stanford University Department of Economics, at the age of 19 and directly admitted to the Institute of Economics doctoral. He donated his 200,000 U.S. dollars saved by his parents to his hometown of Beilun in Ningbo for development education fund. He became a model of overseas Chinese youth, also known as “wheelchair fighter”. His name is Zhang Shibo.
