从现在起，我国将开始实施现代化建设的第三步战略部署。到下世纪中叶，我国将达到中等发达国家水平，基本实现现代化。从“温饱”到“小康”，是我国经济社会的一次深刻变革，从“小康”到“中等发达”，基本实现现代化，更是一次伟大的历史性飞跃。在科学技术飞速发展的时代，实现这一历史性飞跃的根本途径，就是社会生产力的跨越式发展。
From now on, our country will begin implementing the third strategic deployment of modernization. By the middle of the next century, our country will reach the level of a moderately developed country and basically realize its modernization. From “adequate food and clothing” to “well-off society” is a profound change in our economy and society. From a “well-to-do” to a “moderately developed” economy and a basically realization of modernization, it is even a great historic leap forward. In the era of rapid development of science and technology, the fundamental way to achieve this historic leap forward is the leapfrog development of social productive forces.
