The development and influence of the automobile industry in the 1920s has become a microcosm of the formation of the consumer society in the United States. During this period, the behavior of automobile as the mass consumer goods, the behavior of automobile producers and consumers, and the people’s attitudes toward the guidance of goods and commodities have undergone profound changes, which reflect the formation of consumer society in the United States. In the process of contributing to the formation of a consumer society, the automobile industry has found itself confronted with the problem of overdevelopment and underconsumption of productive forces and has taken countermeasures in accordance with the concept of consumerism. This shift in the automotive industry reflects the further development of consumer society. Therefore, both from the formation of a consumer society and from its further development, the automobile industry is a mirror of the American consumer society in the 1920s.
