“One size fits all ” English translation should not be across the board, need to be combined with the specific context to be flexible. As far as pragmatic implications are concerned, when “across the board” emphasizes behavior or policy that addresses the problem in the same way irrespective of the actual situation, it can be translated as make a one-size-fits-all solution or take a one-size -fits all approach, etc .; When “across the board” subverts the usual semantic, derogatory praise, emphasizing the strict implementation of the relevant provisions, do not engage in specialization, the English translation can be translated (make sth) a hard-and-fast rule. No matter what context, for any English translation, if you want to maintain “one size fits all ” image, at the same time without prejudice to its metaphor, can be translated as adopt a cut-it-straight approach, Nearly consistent, and how much to retain the point image, Shu almost. How to choose, depends on the translator’s subjective consciousness and the specific context of the source language.
