The New York Local Time On the evening of November 14, 2012, the 2012 US National Book Award came to a close with Louise Erdrich (1954-), a writer of American Indian Ojibwa. With the new book The Round House , 2012) in one fell swoop won all the fiction novel award. The Boston Globe referred to this as “one of the best novels by Erdrich so far: compact, suspenseful and ethical.” The Los Angeles Times treats the novel as “a mature work” and “a decent dinner.” USA Today praised the writer’s honesty and said she was free from the sentimentality and comfort that she chose to be true, though that was hard.
