李承三,号继五,河北省涉县人,我国著名地质学家.1928年毕业于河南大学,获理学士学位.1928～1931年任两广调查所技助和北洋大学助教,并曾兼任中山大学助教.1931年8月至1936年7月留学德国柏林大学地质系,师承哈森·施蒂勒教授(Hans·Stille),研究大地构造学,获博士学位.1936年秋返国后到1940年先后任中央大学教授和前经济部地质调查所特约研究员.1940～1947年任中国地理研究所研究员兼自然地
