东方红一54型拖拉机的主梁,目前是用18Б号槽钢制成。由于整个拖拉机机身的重量几乎全部由此主梁承担,再加上拖拉机的工作条件极端恶劣,因此主梁受力较大,寿命较低,有时发生开裂事故。为提高拖拉机的牵引能力,延长拖拉机的使用寿命,经拖拉机设计师们研究,提出拖拉机专用18号宽腿槽钢,以增大拖拉机主梁横断面的惯性力矩和阻力矩。鞍钢职工为满足农业急需,以最短时间作好试制准备,于1963年3月份试制18号宽腿槽钢成功。现把试轧经验介绍如下。
